Delta Packaging has been recognised by “Business in the Community Northern Ireland” for its development of a compostable grease barrier for its food packaging. At the recent “2014 NI Impact Awards Gala Ceremony” held at Belfast’s Waterfront Hall (5th June 2014), Delta Packaging was ‘Highly Commended’ for Environmental Improvement by the government-funded organisation BITC.
A panel of Independent Judges deemed that Delta’s contribution to creating a new, sustainable barrier for food packaging (known as “Grease Barrier 2000”) was ‘transformational’. GB 2000 is a fully compostable barrier that Delta Packaging applies in line to its folded cartons which prevents grease from fast food permeating through the surface and compromising the quality of the carton. The development of this, and many other environmentally friendly measures, displays Delta’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and non-compostable waste to landfill.
