For years, Delta has contributed significantly to the local economy through offering employment to hundreds of people both within the company and also throughout its growing supply chain network. Delta has also been a keen supporter of better education, cross-community initiatives and charity organisations over the years.
More recently, the West Belfast manufacturing company has established a CSR Committee made up of staff from various departments within the organisation. The aim is to bring a more strategic approach to the activities it is engaged in around People, Planet, Place and most importantly, Marketplace Responsibility. The Chairman believes that embedding CSR into the business will help its employees and key stakeholders outside of the company to understand the bigger picture, as he explains:
“We have been supporting local community groups and charities for years, as well as running a successful print and converting business serving multi-national clients from around the world. Over the last 3 or 4 years, we have been working very closely with Business in the Community around finding ways of linking CSR into our corporate strategy.
“Delta Packaging now has its own CSR Committee with Senior Management involvement which has given us a platform to drive CSR throughout our business – both internally and externally. We have a targeted approach to all of the activities we carry out so that they remain relevant to our business.
“Our objective is to make Delta a better place to work for our staff, a fantastic stakeholder to work alongside and a responsible citizen in the community in which we operate. Fundamental to all our operations is our investment in reducing our impact on the environment and we have invested significantly to manage our resources and outputs efficiently. We have also helped developed ground-breaking solutions to improving the sustainability of the products we produce.”
In 2014, Delta was highly commended by BITC for Environmental Impact and it will continue its efforts in 2015 to lead the way on developing greener packaging and processes.
