Over the last 3 years, Delta Packaging has expanded its CSR efforts strategically to improve working conditions for staff and also minimise environmental impact on an international scale. Working closely with Business in the Community, Delta has developed its own CSR Committee made up of volunteers from across various departments within the organisation. The Committee has been set up to add structure and direction to a number of initiatives that the company has long been involved in, such as supporting local schools and charities.

Where Delta has really excelled is in its efforts to manage and control production processes to ensure waste control and sustainability remain as central pillars in its daily operations. The development and implementation of fully compostable inks, barriers and fully certified raw materials have helped to characterise Delta Packaging Ltd as a responsible business throughout its international operations.

Locally, the company has forged some strong partnerships with NI Hospice, Ulster Wildlife Trust, Storehouse NI, Mary Peter’s Trust, Sentinus and many local schools & community groups through its charitable support and commitment to promoting STEM in mid to higher level education.

CSR Committee Chairman for Delta Packaging Ltd, Liam O’Connor (pictured receiving the award from BITC’s Lisa McIlvenna) commented:

“I am absolutely delighted that all of our efforts – from our staff volunteer trips to clean up the Bog Meadows to our focus on driving scalable change in responsible and sustainable manufacturing – have been recognised by Business in the Community. Delta is a company that goes beyond standard practice. It is not good enough to simply supply our customers with a great service or to deliver on KPI targets – it is all about making an impact and delivering positive change. Process innovation and stakeholder engagement are key to the strategic development of Delta Packaging. Without these two components working hand-in-hand, we would be left behind.

“We would like to thank Business in the Community for their continued support and effort over the last 3 years and we look forward to growing our CSR contribution in Northern Ireland and beyond over the coming years.”

Delta is already rolling out its Christmas fundraising schedule to support local charities and will be implementing a new CSR plan for 2016.
